How long will it take for my web-site to be designed?

The time-scale for the web-site design is often dictated by the client. Usually we plan to have a sketch within 7 days from our initial discussion and finish the project within 21 days from the time that we have received all the assets. If you have a deadline we will make every effort to meet it. The most common delay in the design of a new web-site is waiting for the content (text/images/graphics) to be sent to us by the client.

In what format should I supply text and images about my business for my new web-site?

We expect you to deliver the graphics in JEPG, GIF, PNG formats. We can also accept PSD, AI and INDD files. The text should be supplied in Microsoft Word or similar format. If this is not possible, please contact Rainbow Designs so we can try to work out a solution.

Will we need to have a meeting in connection with the web-site design?

In the majority of cases a meeting is not necessary and most of our web-sites are generally completed through e-mail contact only. You can view the potential design on a secure page on the internet. We liaise with you regularly to make sure you approve of the ongoing work.

I hear that there are hidden costs associated with web-design services. Is this true?

No. We discuss with you your web-site requirements and then price accordingly and once you have placed an order for your web-site design , we will adhere to it strictly.

Will my web-site appear the same to everyone?

Your web-site visitors will see some things differently depending on their browser, screen-resolution settings and their individual computer settings and toolbars. We design sites with this in mind and preview them in several browser types and resolution settings before publishing. Obviously as technology advances all websites may need periodic re-evaluation.

Do you use Flash animation in your web-site design?

Yes, when required. It is important to note that there are times when Flash animations can be an advantage but it would be unwise to use Flash to create an entire we-bsite or even entire pages of your web-site as search engines are not able to read the content of Flash and therefore any words used in animations will not be indexed by the search-engines. Generally it is best to use Flash for smaller banners, advertisements and incorporate the Flash animation into a web-page which also includes some written text in html and in this way the search engines will be able to index your information.

How much will a web-site cost me?

The cost of a web site varies depending on the complexity of the site. Please refer to our packages to find the offer which suits you best. If none of those seems suitable we can create a custom package for you.  

Is there a limit to the number of pages I can have on my web site?

No. As many as you like. From a search-engines' point of view, the more the better.

Do you redesign existing web-sites?

Yes we do. We can redesign, retaining your company's corporate style or we can redesign to give you a completely new image. We can provide you a Free of Charge Website Evaluation to see if your web-site is up to date. We can redesign your website to take advantage of the latest web technologies.

I already have a website and I need to update it. Can you help me?

Yes, we would be happy to look at your existing web-site and give you a quote for updating it.

Do you display any banners or pop-up ads on my web-site?

Absolutely not! It is your web-site and you have total control over the contents and who advertises on it. Naturally we would like to have 'Design by Rainbow Designs' at the bottom of your web-site with the link to our site.

What if I do not like the design?

If you do not like the design which we have prepared for you, we will have further disscusions with a view to clarifying the type of design you prefer and we will offer you an alternative design. Our aim is to design a web-site specific for your requirements with which you are completely satisfied.

Who owns the web-site once the web-site design is completed?

The web-site belongs to you - we send you a copy of the web-site files. This copy is for your retention and should you wish to use another web-design or web hosting company, you can use the supplied material.

What is a URL?

It stands for 'universal resource locator'. This is the address typed in to view your web page on the Internet. For example, to acess our home page, you would type in http://www.therainbowdesigns.co.uk

What is a domain name?

A domain name is a specific web-site address that you choose and register (for eample official domain names ending in .com, .edu, .gov, .org, etc.). For example our domain name is therainbowdesigns.co.uk

Do you offer a web hosting service and sell domain names?

Yes, we do, but only if in conjuction with our web-design service.

Why I cannot find my web-site using search engines?

Once your site has been submitted to the leading Search Engines they may require several weeks or even months to actually 'spider' and list your web-site in their directory. How fast your site is listed depends on each individual Search Engines' database update schedule.
